Shadowed Autumn Leaves
“Sake is like one’s life. It may be warm and sweet and savory, but it is also harsh and bitter. And like a life, a bottle of sake is drained all too quickly.”
Appearance and Personality
Few men can be described so fully with so few words as the ronin called Oil; old drunk. Plum wine is his wife, sake his family, and shochu his lord. Fortunately Oil is a happy drunk, and so he is far less destructive than many men who are so enslaved to their baser appetites. While occasionally sober in the early mornings, it is quite uncommon to see him in such a state. He tells wonderful stories, stories he insists are factual, which always manage to capture the imagination, even when upon closer inspection there are holes and gaps in the drunken narrative wide enough to drive a cart through.
Little is known for sure about Oil. He occasionally works aboard ships, and is a capable sailor, though few ships want to hire on an irrepentant drunkard. That is how he arrived in Kyuden Gotei, where he currently resides. Though he isn’t much use in a fight, whatever technique he possessed dulled by years of sake, the ronin is extremely resilient. It is said that once he continued drinking, completely unfazed, after being struck about the head with a sake bottle. Besides that, all any one knows of the man are his ridiculous stories.
